At 5:30 Eastern Standard Time on Oct. 12, Sony officially announced its new Google TV. A Logitech controller combines a remote with a Blackberry-like keyboard. Android and Chrome offer full app integration and expandability. There are two ways to take advantage of Sony Google TV. Consumers can buy one of four TV models that come fully integrated or a set-top box that can convert almost any TV.

TV from Google and Sony

Sony is saying it has found “the true internet TV revolution” with its partnerships with Google and Logitech. Customers can experience Sony Google TV for between $399 and $1,399, as it comes from 24 inches to 46 inches or as a set-top box. The combination remote and keyboard uses a small QWERTY keyboard intended for two-thumb typing, like a larger version of a Blackberry keyboard.

How Google becomes part of Sony TV

There are a few different ways in which Sony TV integrates Google. The system is run by an Android system. Android is Google’s operating system. The Android TV will have apps developed for it, as Google has made app development available. The Sony TV also uses Google’s Chrome browser for internet browsing. When searching, Google has installed a bar that will allow DVR, TV and the internet to be searched all at once. The amount of Internet you can use isn’t limited at all by Sony TV. This is where Sony TV trumps, Apple TV, which only allows limited access.

The extras of Sony’s Google TV

There are many extra features to the Google Sony TV. The extras are what really set it apart from competitors like the Apple TV. Users can get Sony movies early with the Sony/Google TV sets. That’s right; Sony will release its movies early for Google TV customers. Also, Logitech helped design the keyboard and remote. This makes it programmable to run most devices. One of the best features is that users can get on Twitter or Facebook while watching TV, which should be a grand-slam among today’s constantly multitasking tech users. Best Buy will begin selling the Sony Google TV on Oct. 24. It will be available in all four television sets and the set-top box. All are available for pre-order now.
