At least two firetrucks were lent out by Los Angeles-area fire stations for use in pornographic movies. However, because department rules put a two-year statute of limitations on disciplinary actions, there will be no consequences for those involved.

Saved by statute of limitations

A media report in Los Angeles last month revealed that two Los Angeles-area firehouses lent firetrucks for use in pornographic movies. According to the Los Angeles Times, the allegations were first made by KNBC, a Los Angeles NBC affiliate.

An internal investigation had been launched earlier this year by the Professional Standards Division of the Los Angeles Fire Department before KNBC aired a story about it. The investigation discovered two incidents had taken place in which an LA firetruck had been used in a pornographic movie.

Though the mayor of Los Angeles and others condemned the use of the trucks for this purpose, it has been determined that nothing can be done, according to CBS. The incidents took place in 2008 and a two-year statute of limitations prevents any disciplinary action being taken.

Two separate shoots

It was revealed that in 2008, two separate firehouses lent firetrucks to pornographic film shoots. One, according to the Los Angeles Times, was shot at a firehouse. That video features an actress, Charley Chase, who walks up to Firehouse 63 in Venice Beach and climbs aboard the firetruck, according to CBS. The other video was shot in Hollywood and featured a firetruck from Firehouse 41, a Hollywood firehouse. Forbes reporter Susannah Breslin points out that it wasn’t the first time a firetruck has been used in making a pornographic movie and not even the first time for a Los Angeles firetruck.

Other shoots involving public service

According to the Los Angeles Times, two officers of the Los Angeles Police Department were placed on leave in April when KNBC revealed they had participated in filming a pornographic movie while on duty. Their patrol vehicle was also used in the film.

A military court recently ruled that Matthew W. Simmons, a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, did not violate military law while wearing parts of his uniform while acting in gay pornographic films, according to Gawker. The repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” precluded his being discharged for being homosexual, and he technically wasn’t using his uniform for commercial purposes.

In Britain, according to the BBC, a National Health Service hospital was revealed last year to have rented out a wing for use in a “big budget” pornographic film. Members of Parliament defended the action, saying it earned the hospital a lot of money.
