A woman was arrested for prostitution in Bradenton, Fla. on Sept. 14. The arrest in itself is not unusual, but a particularly graphic police report exposed that law enforcement used rubber penis replicas in prostitution stings.

A prostitution sting

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office task force was conducting a prostitution sting last week when an undercover detective pulled up to a woman wearing a green spaghetti-strap top at about 10 p.m. The woman was later identified as 31-year-old Christina Hope Vavra. Back up officers were positioned nearby.

Asked price for sexual favor

“She got into the undercover vehicle and told me to head north,” the unidentified undercover officer wrote in his report. He asked her how much it would cost for oral sex, but Vavra was at first “noncommittal.”

“We then drove out of the parking lot,” the report continued, “at which point she asked me to expose my penis.”

Officer asked to expose himself

Prostitutes often make their johns prove they are not law-enforcement by asking them to expose their genitals before any talk of money occurs, according to the Daily Mail. Law enforcement officers are not allowed to expose themselves to potential suspects. In anticipation of this request, according to the report, the detective was wearing a prosthetic.

‘Flaccid rubber replica of a penis’

“I asked her if I could put a condom on first,” the report continued. “I then exposed a flaccid rubber replica of a penis and placed a condom on it. She immediately leaned over and put it into her mouth.”

An opossum?

In a bizarre turn of events, an opossum crossing the road caused the detective to slam on the brakes, causing the woman to “slide out of her seat and mildly into the dashboard.”

They then drove to a secluded lot and parked. The detective again asked her for the price of an oral favor.

Arrest made

“Twenty for head,” Vavra said. That was all the detective needed to make the collar. Vavra was booked into the Manatee County Jail on a $120 bond.

‘Probably a little too detailed’

Dave Bristow, a spokesman for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, told the Huffington Post that the use of fake penises by law enforcement officers is fairly common in prostitution stings. He suggested the arrest report, however, was “probably a little too detailed. But, yeah, I think you will find that is probably the case at a lot of agencies.”

“It’s certainly not something that we want to get out there, ” Bristow continued. “It’s not something you’ll typically see written in arrest reports. But this undercover guy did, and now everybody’s going to know.”
